There are a range of health and social care services available to Kirkby residents and they are provided by a number of the different organisations
Local health services are available from the St. Chad’s Centre, Towerhill Primary Care Resource Centre, Southdene Primary Care Resource Centre and a variety of other surgeries.
Knowsley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is an NHS organisation that brings together local GPs (doctors), nurses and other healthcare professionals from across Knowsley, to assess the health needs of the local population, and then plan, buy and monitor the delivery of the required healthcare services.
Healthwatch Knowsley aim to give local residents and communities a stronger voice to influence and challenge how health & social care services are provided within Knowsley.

Blood and Transplant
Registration to be a blood donor for transfusion or an organ donor for transplant can be done through NHS Blood and Transplant. Blood donations can be arranged at the permanent Liverpool Donor Centre, and temporary donor centres often run from Kirkby Leisure Centre and other venues in the surrounding area. They will ask you a series of questions to assess your symptoms and immediately direct you to the best medical care for you. NHS 111 is available in England 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.
999 Emergency
The 999 emergency ambulance and response paramedic cover for Kirkby is provided by the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) NHS Trust. In addition to 999 response, NWAS also provides patient transport and major incident response. NWAS has a maintenance and crew rest station at Kirkby Ambulance Station, but this cannot be used for drop-in assistance.
Additionally, Kirkby, as part of the North West of England, is covered by the 3 air ambulances of the North West Air Ambulance Charity. Helimed 08 is based in Blackpool, and Helimed 72 and Helimed 75 are based in Barton, Manchester, whilst the charity headquarters are based locally in North Mersey Business Park on Kirkby Industrial Estate. The 3 helicopters fly 365 days a year with doctors and paramedics on board, providing rapid treatment and hospital transfer to patients. The helicopters are tasked as required through the North West Ambulance Service in response to 999 calls, and the charity cannot be contacted directly for emergency assistance,
