Hi, let me introduce myself
I am a retired Station Officer (Firefighter) who has lived and worked in Whitfield Ward all my life. I was proud to protect and serve my community and was honoured to receive awards for doing so. I am a firm believer that ‘unity is strength’, either through affiliation or community. A society that helps everyone and everybody helps everyone else.
Kirkby is a great place to live and Whitefield Ward is one of the nicest areas to live in. It’s a ward with great community spirit, where everyone looks after everyone and no one gets left behind.
However, for years Whitefield Ward has been left behind and Kirkby has become the forgotten town of Knowsley. Our residents have had to live facing and shop surrounded by, demolition sites. We have lost civic buildings, offices, major retail centres, shops, bingo halls and cinemas, and our leisure facilities the Library, Sports centre and swimming baths have both been replaced with an inferior product
Whilst it's, finally, a relief to see something coming out of the ground besides weeds in the Town centre, as a footballing community, let me use a football metaphor “if you are getting beat 10-0 and you score in the 91st minute it’s not a victory. It’s what you should have been doing for the previous 90mins” and so it’s been with Kirkby Town centre for the last 10 years.
If you believe Whitefield Ward and Kirkby deserve better - vote Steve Smith.
I believe in saving and protecting our green open spaces and play areas for our children and constituents, promoting a positive environment, including leisure areas, for everyone to enjoy now and in the future.
I support the development of environmentally friendly homes and endorse the continued development of our green initiatives including solar, wind or hydraulic power.
If you believe in a greener and more environmentally friendly Whitefield Ward and Kirkby - vote Steve Smith.
Your vote is precious and for too long, political parties have taken you and your vote for granted. Senior Labour advisor Lord Mandelson stated, “Don’t fuss about working class voters; they have nowhere else to go”.
I do fuss; I do care about working class and all voters in my community. That’s why I am here offering, all voters somewhere else to go.
It is estimated there are 10,000 potential candidates in the ward, yet Labour choose an outsider?
If you believe your councillor for Whitefield Ward should be a local, offering a local voice - vote Steve Smith.
If you would like me, as your councillor, to be the voice that represents your views, expresses your hopes, expectations and concerns - vote Steve Smith.
On the 6th of May, let no one tell residents of Whitefield Ward, you have “nowhere else to go”. Go the polling station; make a fuss and vote Steve Smith.
Let’s all go forward together and leave no place and nobody behind.
It’s time for change
Stay Safe.
